Aurora
Aurora Aksnes, born June 15 1996 in Stavanger and is professionally known as Aurora or, sometimes, stylized as AURORA is an Norwegian singer and songwriter. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves is released in May of 2015 from Decca Records. It has received high praise from the blogs and the press. Half the World Away - by the Oasis - for John Lewis' Christmas ad as well as Nature Boy - by Nat King Cole have already been two of the most notable covers the singer has created. Katy Perry posted a video where she was announcing her endorsement of Runaway. The endorsement earned her some attention. Make it a special day for her. Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is that of finding an instrument in her attic and becoming enthralled by the sound it could create. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents, May Britt Aksnes, and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to pursue music as a passion rather than a profession. In order to do so, she began writing original compositions. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with an appreciation for the style of Bjork. To counter her mother's advice that people shouldn't be trying to be famous through her songwriting, but instead recognize the significance of their lives and their impact on society. Her mother suggested that she perform her songs publicly in order to make people aware of their own importance and how they could impact the world. It was unknown to her family until she turned fourteen. Aurora wasn't a childhood dream. She says she just likes to compose songs. She believes that music can help anyone feel better.
